Marineros Seafarer's Movie Block Screening held for Crossworld Charity
Manila, Philippines – Manning and shipping firms in the country join together to hold a block screening of a new Filipino film entitled ‘Marineros: Men in the middle of the Sea’ for Charity.
Crossworld Marine Services, Inc, Cassiopeia Marine Services, Inc, and Bourbon Marine Services Manila hosted the film showing at Greenbelt 1, Cinema 1 last September 20, Friday. ‘Marineros’ centers on the life and plight of Filipino seafarers. It stars Michael De Mesa, Valerie Concepcion and Ahron Villena and directed by Anthony Hernandez. The indie film talks about family values and the seafarers’ life aboard ships including the struggles while on the job. It portrays the story of a family from Bohol with De Mesa playing the role of Dennis, the family patriarch, who works for a shipping company. Tragedy however engulfed the family after Dennis lost his job after an accident onboard a ship.
The film benefit is one of the projects for Crossworld Charity Foundation where all proceeds will go to. All 200 tickets were sold out and praises were given to all companies who partnered as sponsor for the event.
Several firms and private offices who sponsored includes HealthPlus Diagnostic Clinic, SM Lazo Medical Clinic Inc., Angelus Medical Clinic, Inc., and Far East Maritime Foundation Inc. among other company sponsors.
Mr. Mark Henrick Hilvano, President of Crossworld Marine Services, Inc. and Mr. Ramoncito "Chito" Mendoza, President of Crossworld Charity Foundation attended the event as well as some Crossworld employees. Most of them were left teary eyed before the ending credits rolled as everyone was able to relate to the film and was touched by the film’s message.
Crossworld Charity Foundation mainly supports kids with cancer and street children. It also provides educational support to students as well as emergency and calamity support to Crossworld crews and employees.
