Seafarer Identity Document Launched

Manila, Philippines – The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) has launched the Seafarer’s Identity Document (SID) in compliance with the standards of the International Labor Organization (ILO) Convention No. 185 or the Seafarers’ Identity Documents Convention 2003, as amended.

The SID will facilitate Filipino seafarers’ shore leave, cross border, transfer, and repatriation even without a visa. It will contain modern security which will be recognizable to all member states accessing the ID Cards through the implementation of International Civil Aviation Organization Documents 9303.

It was launched last June 25 during the ‘Day of the Seafarer’ event at the Philippine International Convention Center.
