World Class Training Center for Filipino seafarers to be built in Manila

Manila, Philippines - One of the world’s leading cruise company, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd., is planning to put up new, state-of-the-art training facility in the Philippines. The company is now in development and construction of the ‘Norwegian Cruise Line Center of Excellence’ which is a 200,000-square-foot establishment that will serve both new and existing shipboard team members across the company and will provide training for various onboard service areas.

 

“The world class training campus will enable the company to fully immerse trainees in their coursework, reduce onboard training time and further improve upon the already industry-leading service levels,” the company’s statement read.

Scheduled for completion in 2020, the center which has secured a 7.2-acre parcel of land in Manila. It will provide annual training for as many as 8,000 shipboard team members each year and is expected to give trainings to present and future seafarers that are hoping to work in cruise ships.

The central location of the Philippines, as well as its high percentage of multilingual citizens, has proven to be an ideal location for the Company’s training and development facility. Construction of the center is scheduled to begin later this year.
