Crossworld founders celebrates 15th year anniversary and 40 years in crewing business
Crossworld Marine Services, Inc., One of the Philippines’ biggest crew management company, marks another milestone in its long list of accolades as it marked its 15th year anniversary last March 1st. Different programs were held in Crossworld’s branches including Manila, Cebu, Iloilo, and Davao to mark the event.
In Manila, the company’s key officials and employees gathered at The Peninsula Hotel to celebrate the Crossworld’s 15 years in the industry. Present at the event were Crossworld Group’s Founder Capt. Leonidas Varias, current Crossworld CEO Simos Varias, Varship Shipping General Manager Christos Varias, Crossworld Marine Services Inc. Operations Manager in Athens George Roussis, Crossworld Marine Services Inc. President Mark Henrick Hilvano, Vice President Arnold Mendoza, HR Director Rochelle Reyes, Operations Director Capt. Rene Espinar, Technical Director Emmanuel Pascua, and Operations Manager of Bourbon Marine Services, Manila Renato Santelices.
The Founder of the group, Capt. Leonidas Varias gave a heartwarming speech during the event as he looked back on the ‘journey’ of Crossworld in the past years.
Mr. Varias shared his life story starting as a seafarer and moving all the way up to becoming a Master. He also detailed how he transitioned into becoming a business man, when established 40 years ago in 1979 his first manning company in Korea and then moving to buy his first ship in the early 80’s.
It was in 2004 when Crossworld would change prominently distinguish itself in international manning business. A year later, the company joined forces with ‘Bourbon Offshore’ and establish ’Bourbon Marine Services Manila’ with an aim ‘to provide a locally based response to meet its client expectations.
Not long after, Crossworld bagged ‘The Best Performing Manning Agent Award’ from the Philippine Overseas Employment Agency (POEA). The company’s accolades continued to pour in as it opened several branches across the Philippines in years to follow while again being named by POEA as ‘The Best Performing Manning Agent’ in 2013.
In 2016, Crossworld has produced crew management and crew services of three hundred fifty (350) vessels of a clientele of more than twenty five (25) ship management companies worldwide which continues to grow until this day.
Capt. Varias cites hard work as the reason behind the company’s success as he encouraged everyone to continue such practice during the anniversary dinner. In line with this, several employees were honorably mentioned for their loyalty to the company. Dennis Peñaflor, Kristine Amparo, Ronnel Marco Gaddi and Ramoncito Mendoza got plaques for their 10 years of service for Crossworld.
Capt Varias meanwhile called on the company’s staff, officers, and employees to continue working hard as the company looks forward to more success in the future and contribute in boosting Crossworld’s growth.
