Demand for Filipinos to man yachts in Europe grows

The preference and demand for Filipino seafarers continues to grow as privately owned yachts in the European Region look for Filipino crew members.

According to a local news website, Inquirer.net, areas such as the South of France and Greece are looking for Filipino crew members to operate their yachts for private cruises.

The article also mentioned that the growing demand for Filipino crew could be attributed to their Filipino’s English proficiency as well as their hardworking nature. Among the vacancies that Filipino crew members can fill for yacht operations include engineers, deckhands, motormen and stewards among others.

This growing demand is a clear testament for the preference of Filipino sea based workers who currently forms one-fourth of the world’s total seafarers aboard international ships. Filipino seafarers have been known in the industry for their excellent seamanship and navigation skill and especially their mastery of the English language.
