Filipino seafarers no longer required to present OECs in NAIA

Manila, Philippines – The Philippine Overseas Employment Agency (POEA) has recently announced that Filipino Seafarers are no longer required to present their Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC) in the country’s international airports.

The new memorandum was issued by POEA Administrator Hans Cacdac and took effect this month. This move from the government agency will not only be beneficial for Filipino seafarers but other Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) as well as it decongests the long lines at the airport’s Labour Assistance Center which validates the workers OEC.

The POEA Administrator explained that manning agencies would now be required to submit the clear copies of the E-receipts or OECs of their seamen at the POEA head office after the seamen’s departure from the airport.
