Planting Seeds for a Sustainable Sea: Crossworld Joins the Adopt-A-Ship Closing Ceremony

Niño Elementary School in San Pedro, Laguna, for the Closing Ceremony of the Adopt-A-Ship Program.
It was a day about young people, big ideas, and the ocean that connects us all.
A day led by champions of maritime education
The ceremony was led by IMO Goodwill Maritime Ambassador Mr. George Hoyt, joined by Crossworld Operations Manager CE Vernon Soriano and Program Manager Ms. Lorena Patiño.
Their presence sent a clear message to every student in the room: the maritime industry sees you, believes in you, and is investing in your future.
A program that makes the ocean personal
For most children, shipping is invisible — the quiet reason shelves stay full and the world keeps moving. The Adopt-A-Ship Program changes that, connecting elementary students with the world of ships and the seafarers who sail them.

A highlight: the Poster-Making Contest
One of the standout moments of the ceremony was the Poster-Making Contest.
Students put their creativity to work, translating what they had learned into artwork that captured a single powerful idea: the importance of protecting and preserving our marine environment. The results were a reminder that environmental stewardship is best understood young — and best expressed in a child’s own voice.
