Standing With the Philippines: How You Can Help After the Mindanao Earthquake

Standing With the Philippines

On the morning of Monday, 8 June 2026, a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck off the southern coast of Mindanao — the strongest to hit the Philippines in over 36 years. In the hours since, the news has carried images that are hard to look at: collapsed homes, a damaged hospital, families gathering what little they can carry, and communities bracing for aftershocks.

For us at Crossworld, the distance on a map disappears completely. The Philippines is home to so many of the seafarers and colleagues who make our company what it is. This is not a faraway disaster. It is happening to our family.

What happened in Mindanao

The earthquake struck at 7:37 am local time, with its epicentre off the coast of Sarangani province. It triggered a tsunami warning along the southern coast and landslides in mountainous communities, and forced the closure of schools across the affected region. Lives have been lost, hundreds have been injured, and thousands have been displaced — with the full scale of the damage still emerging.

Why this is personal to us

The maritime industry runs on the skill, resilience and dedication of Filipino seafarers — and Crossworld is no exception. The people of the Philippines are our crew, our colleagues, and our friends. When their homes and families are at risk, we cannot stand by.

How your support helps

Through the Crossworld Charity Foundation, every donation goes directly toward the most urgent needs on the ground:

  • A roof repaired for a family that has lost its home
  • Food and clean water for children and the elderly
  • Shelter and basic supplies for those who have been displaced

No amount is too small. Together, contributions add up to real relief for the people who need it most.
